World Book Day and Discovery Centre at Howe Green House School

On Thursday 19th April Howe Green House school was transformed into a fairytale as we held
our long awaited World Book Day, since we were snowed off on the actual day back in March.

All of the children and many of the teachers dressed in one of their favourite characters from a
favourite book. The outfits were varied and colourful, the most popular characters were Dorothy,
Little Red Riding Hood, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger. Many of the teachers were
replaced just for this one day by Sherlock Holmes, the BFG, Where’s Wally, Little Red Riding
Hood and others.

In addition to dressing up, the children in the Prep school were fortunate enough to be visited by
Paul from the Discovery Centre for a workshop in storytelling. The children were encouraged to
create imaginative stories based upon pictures and short sentences; Paul was very impressed
with all of the children’s ideas and storytelling.

I am sure that all of the children would agree it was a fabulous, creative, imaginative and rather
hot World Book Day.
