Head Boy & Head Girl’s Chosen Charity – 2013/2014

Princess Alexandra Hospital Neo Natal Unit

The Head Boy, Head Girl and Deputies are working hard to raise funds for the above charity.  A wide range of activities have been organised from a Pumpkin Carving Competition, harvesting apples from the school orchards to make Apple Juice and now planning for Year 6 to do a week of swimming to equal the distance of swimming the channel. To date they have raised over £3,100.

RSPCA

Following a Year 3 PSHE project looking at taking responsibility for their pets, the class decided to raise funds for the local RSPCA branch. More cross curricular work ensued!  They applied what they had learned about packaging/ marketing to entice their customers to buy the beautifully wrapped, delicious cakes/sweets and biscuits they had made. Mrs. Watson the local RSPCA chairman joined the class to receive a cheque for nearly £270.

The Meningitus Trust

The Meningitus Trust approached Little Oaks Nursery about holding a ‘Toddle Waddle’ to raise much needed funds to help support those coping with the after effects of this disease.  The Little Oaks parents set about getting as many sponsors as possible and, after a fun packed week of exploring and singing as the children waddled, raised the grand sum of £1,465.00.
